If you want to shop, visit a museum, or just “escape” from nature for a while, what better to do than to visit the royal city of Turin (it was the first capital of the Kingdom of Italy), the maritime city of Genoa or smaller towns such as Mondovì, Cuneo and Acqui Terme. You can reach these easily by car (Turin: 1h30min; Genoa: 1h30min; Mondovì: 50min; Cuneo: 1h10min; Acqui Terme: 50 min). Turin can also be reached by train (drive 30 min to Ceva, arrive in Porta Nuova train station, which is right in the city centre), while Genoa can be reached by boat (drive 1h30min to Pegli, arrive in the Porto di Genova, which is right in the centre of Genoa, with excellent views on the city). If you are visiting Mondovì, make sure to stop at the Sanctuary of Vicoforte, a monumental church with the largest elliptical dome in the world.
